Billy Joe Butler, a beloved figure in the community of Jefferson County, has passed away at the age of 86 in Baytown, Texas. Born in the small town of Colmesneil, Texas on March 26, 1938, Billy Joe led a life full of dedication and service to his community.
Throughout his life, Billy Joe wore many hats; he was not only proud owner of Billy Joe's Bar-B-Que but also served as Commissioner for Drainage District 7 in Jefferson County for an impressive 27 years. His impact on the local cannot be overstated as he worked tirelessly to improve the lives of those around him.
Remembered fondly by all who knew him, Billy Joe had a passion for playing cards, horse racing, and cheering on golf tournaments. He was also a cherished member of Romero's Coffee Club, where his presence will be greatly missed.
Billy Joe was a lilfelong member of the First Baptist Church of Port Neches. His commitment to his church family and community was unwavering and inspired all those around him.
Among his proudest accomplishments was being a benefactor to many within the community. Billy Joe's generous spirit and kind heart touched the lives of countless individuals and families over the years.
In his passing, Billy Joe leaves behind a close-knit circle of surviving family and friends who will cherish his memory dearly. He is survived by his sisters-in-law Carol Butler of Port Neches and JoAnn Butler of Nederland; nieces, Kellie Ivy (David), Kim Lowery (Steve), Connie Reese, all residents of Port Neches, as well as Cheree Gregg (Sterling) from Nederland; and nephew, Mitch Butler from Port Neches. He will be dearly missed by his long-time love, Mary Coward.
Billy Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Ruby Butler, brothers, Wayne Butler and Gene Butler, and nephew, Chad Butler. Although he may no longer be with us in body, Billy Joe's spirit lives on through the love he shared with those fortunate enough to have known him.
A visitation will be held at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches on July 2, 2024, 5-7 pm. A funeral service on July 3, 2024, will be held at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches at 10:00 am. to celebrate the life and legacy of this remarkable individual. Billy Joe will be laid to rest at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches immediately following the funeral service.
