Billy "Brad" Irwin Dennison, 76 of
Muenster, Texas passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday April 12, 2025, at 10am after a long illness. A graveside service will be held at Mountain Park Cemetery,
Saint Jo, TX on Saturday, April 26th at 2pm, Sam Campbell officiating.
Brad was born in
Saint Jo, Texas on October 30, 1948, to Billie (Jackson) Crump and Henry Irwin Crump. Mr. Crump died when Brad was only 2 years old. Brad was raised by his mother and her husband James "Jim" Dennison.
Brad attended Saint Jo ISD through 8th grade, then attended Muenster ISD and graduated from Muenster High School in 1967.
He enlisted in the US Navy on May 10, 1968, and attended bootcamp at the Naval Station Great Lakes. He initially served on the USS Saratoga (CV-60) and was deployed to the Mediterranean. Then after several months, had the opportunity to train as a Builder Constructionman (BUCN) in Davisville, Rhode Island where he received technical training to become part of a Naval Construction Battalion that performed a variety of civil engineering projects. The NMCB's have a long, proud and distinguished history of service and later became known as the Seabees. He told stories about how his navy career as a CN allowed him to see places like Panama and the Indian Ocean. Brad described construction projects his battalion was assigned to and was so proud of his military service. He was honorably discharged from active duty and transferred to the Naval Reserve on May 5, 1972, in San Francisco, California. He often said he didn't need to travel in retirement because the Navy had already taken him to places, he had never dreamed of seeing.
After returning to Texas, Brad worked as a loyal employee in the industrial manufacturing field over the years, beginning with National Supply then Valenite. He then worked for Cooke County Precinct 4 under county commissioner Robert Bayer, whom Brad admired very much. He worked 20 years in Corinth for Boeing/Labinal where he was recognized for his exemplary record for productivity and quality as a production associate assembling wiring harnesses for aerospace applications. He ended his working years as an employee at Universal Machining Industries, Inc. and retired in 2019. His colleagues regularly commented on his kind demeaner and sense of humor.
Brad married Mary Alice Koesler Bayer on December 04, 2009, at Sacred Heart Church and moved north of Muenster on family land with cattle, horses and lots of activity. Brad was delighted to expand his family, and he especially enjoyed the opportunity to be involved in the occasional ranching chore and frequent large family gatherings.
Brad was a proud member of the First United Methodist Church of Saint Jo where he made many lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Billie Dennison, father, Henry Crump and father, James A. Dennison, and his siblings, James Dennison, Jr. and Charlotte Brewer.
