BILLY HUGH GRIFFIN

BILLY HUGH GRIFFIN, age 88, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026. He was born on October 2, 1937, in Flintville, Tennessee, where his journey of love and laughter began.

In retirement, Billy became the family's favorite backup babysitter, a role he embraced with joy and mischief. He was the grandpa who said yes to all the fun food, encouraged all the adventures, and perfected the art of napping while the kids ran wild around him. It's no surprise that Papa Bill was always everyone's favorite.

Billy had a deep love for bluegrass and country music, and there wasn't a song he couldn't dance to. He took great pride in sharing that ladies, both young and old, would line up for the chance to dance with him. His rhythm and charm never failed him.

But above all his many talents, Billy's greatest achievement was simply being the best daddy. He did good. Always.

His legacy lives on in the laughter of his grandchildren, the memories of him dancing, and in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Lue Jean (Sanders) Griffin; infant daughter, Shirley Jean Griffin; parents Hugh Hardin Griffin and Wilma Martin; and sister Reba Dean Nichols.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Beverly (Ron) Villanueva and Barbara Griffin; grandchildren Renee (Diego) Herrera, Anthony (Jackie) Lopez, and Rachel Villanueva; sister Lenore Buice; his adored great-grandchildren Diego, Ivy, and Cruz; along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation Wednesday, March 4, 2026 from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Kerr- Paryzygnot Funeral Home, 540 Dixie Highway Chicago Heights, IL.

Visitation for Mr. Griffin is scheduled for 12:00 Noon until Service time at 2:00 on Saturday, March 7, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services in Estill Springs, Tenn.

Interment will follow at Gum Springs Cemetery Flintville, Tennessee. Family serving as pallbearers.
