Billy Steven "Steve" Hart departed this life on September 26, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. Steve was born on January 29, 1958, in Memphis, TN to Billy Coy and Peggy Webb Hart.
Steve grew up in Collierville, TN and attended Samford University's McWhorter School of Pharmacy in Birmingham, AL. He was a member and served as the president of Pi Kappa Alpha and remained in contact with many of his fraternity brothers through the years. Steve's pharmacy career encompassed various roles including independent pharmacy owner, and retail, hospital and consulting pharmacy. His most notable appointment was serving as the Executive Director of the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy until his retirement. Steve was fortunate to have received many honors during his pharmacy tenure and developed wonderful and lasting friendships along the way.
Steve was a member of Buck Run Baptist Church, an ordained deacon and had a love for mission work completing several trips to Romania and Brazil. He was an Eagle Scout and member of The Order of the Arrow, Scouting's National Honor Society. Golf, hunting and fishing were among the hobbies he enjoyed.
As an avid sports fan who loved the Tennessee Volunteers and St. Louis Cardinals, he was the reluctant recipient of a great deal of good-natured ribbing from his Kentucky friends. While his heart remained in Tennessee, he embraced Kentucky's beautiful countryside, horses and bourbon culture.
His greatest pleasure came from spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lisa Ellis Hart; parents Billy and Peggy Hart; sons Jacob Hart (Holly) and Luke Hart (Shelby); daughters Jacqueline Keough (Bradley) and Lauren Bright (Casey); and grandchildren Lucy, James and Audrey Keough; Elsie and Elijah Hart; Adalyn and Cohen Bright; and Jackson and Graham Hart.
He also leaves behind siblings Derrell Hart, Sr. (Cindy), Brenda Hart, and Anita Adams (Dewayne); sister-in-law Brenda Walton (Marco); nieces and nephews Derrell Hart, Jr. (Hannah), Christy Kains (Philip), Devin Rogers, Rickey Reeves, Jr., Ethan Adams (Erin), Ashton Adams, Devin Coon (Ranae), Jordan Klein (Justin), Ashton Craven (James), and Alex Walton; and aunts and uncles Eugene Webb (Peggy), Sharon Trent, and Joe Reed.
He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law Rosemary Ellis.
Serving as pallbearers are Derrell Hart, Sr., Dewayne Adams, Ethan Adams, Bradley Keough, Casey Bright and Marco Walton.
Honorary pallbearers are Derrell Hart, Jr., Ashton Adams, Rickey Reeves, Jr., Devin Coon, Alex Walton, James Keough, Michael Burleson, Dwayne Cook and Charles Wilkerson.
Services will be held Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 11:00 am at Buck Run Baptist Church with Dr. Chris Parrish officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
If desired, donations in Steve's honor may be made to Romanian-American Mission (RAM) at ramonline.org.
