What a jolt. I came back to Texas and had plans to met up with another frat bro Jim Henry and we'd drive over and pay ol' B Dale a long overdue visit. I called his cell phone and no answer. No call back the next day and I'm starting to max out on the worry wheel. My wife found the obit. Damn it all -- 2 weeks too late. I'm REALLY gonna miss that bag of humor. And BTW, that was the BEST obit we have ever read. You sons rock. Keep his DNA going.

I did not know Billy personally, but I worked with his mom, Etta Dale, for many years at Sears. I can only imagine the good time they are sharing today.

Sending our love to the boys and their families. We so.loved your Dad. His humor was infectious. The New years Eve party when he played Baby New Year in a diaper is still fresh in our memory. When we think of Bill it is always with a smile Larry and Carol Shepard Perrysburg Ohio

I first met Bill in the summer of 1975 at Shell Oil Company in Traverse City, Michigan. He was my mentor at Shell and great to work with. I didn´t know anyone in the small town other than those I met at Shell.

Bill´s wife went to visit her family in Missouri for three weeks that summer so Bill was kind to let me hang out with him on weekends. We went to Mackinac island, then drove into Canada in his burnt orange Monte Carlo with a cream colored vinyl top. We proceeded to get run off the road by a white truck with a Texas A&M bumper sticker.

We swam in Lake Michigan and some shallow lakes. He took me to the Bear Lake theatre in Manistee County where I saw my first x-rated movie (5 minutes was too long).

He was transferred to New Orleans and a couple years later I was transferred to Houston. He was instrumental in getting me hired at Mitchell Energy. He was well respected at Mitchell and in the oil industry. I always remember him with a smile because of his great sense of humor.

To the family of Billy, we have been friends since we were 6 or 7 years old. He was always great and getting us to laugh. We went to Lee Street Methodist Church. Attended MYF when we got old enough and Sunday school forever until he moved away to go to college and work. My deepest sympathies to you all. I know he will be greatly missed. We will see him in Heaven.
