Billy Joe Smith, age 76, of the Free Home Community, passed away on November 17, 2022. Billy was a member of Ophir Baptist Church. He was a devoted family man who loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Billy loved to hunt and fish whenever he had the chance. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt and Edith Smith; sister and brother-in-law, Wynell and Lewis Wilkie; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Cecil and Helen Densmore; brother-in-law; Dewey Payne; sister-in-law, Lorene Stewart.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Smith; children, Lisa (Richard) Angel, Jody (Janet) Smith; grandchildren, Cody (Chasity) Smith, Cayla (Colby) Turner, Cassie (Austen Hawkins) Angel, Caitlin Angel, Matthew Thaxton, Sara (Thomas) Thaxton, Hannah (Byron) Thaxton; great grandchildren, Corbin, Kelsie, Lexi, Noah, Jaxon, Kaleb, Kaden, Marlie, Kenzlie; sister, Sandra (Doyle) Darby; sister-in-law, Maureen Payne; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lamar (Betty) Densmore, Wendell (Roxanne) Densmore, Raymond (Imogene) Densmore, David Densmore; many other relatives.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with Rev. Gerral Richards and Rev. Jeff Wilkie officiating. The interment will follow at New Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, November 20th, from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Monday, from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM, and on Tuesday, from 9:00 AM until the hour of service
