Billy Joe Miller
Saltillo – Billy Joe Miller, age 90, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Sanctuary Hospice House. He was a husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Born on February 26, 1935, he was the son of the late Dennis and Eva Mae Miller. He enjoyed hunting and running dogs, and cherished spending time with family and friends. Known for his easygoing nature, he was a joy to be around.
Billy Joe was a dedicated member of Apostolic Life UPCI, where he faithfully served the Lord in many capacities throughout his life. A passionate and proud guitarist, he shared his musical talents with numerous gospel groups, including The Stakers, the Oak Ridge Boys, Dottie Rambo, and others.
He is survived by his grandchildren, Shelly Sheffield and husband, Brent, Marlena Scott and husband, Jay; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Miller, Payden Sheffield, Briona Sheffield and boyfriend, Eli Rodgers, and Carrie Good; sister, Loraine Engles; daughter-in-law, Cleo Hurley; sister-in-law, Phyllis Pharms; extended family, Teresa Seamons, and Twana Bradley; and special friends, Chelsey Christenson, Emily Sullivan, Brook Underwood, Kendra Gray, and Laken Mize.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Miller, whom he married June 18, 1954 and remained married for 65 years until her passing; his parents; and son, Dale Miller.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, September 8, 2025, at Apostolic Life UPCI Church, and 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.
Services honoring the life of Billy will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2025, Apostolic Life UPCI Church with Bro. Danny Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in Priceville Cemetery. Pegues Funeral Directors are entrusted with the care of her arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Terry Lee, Bobby Cockrell, Stanley Kitchens, Roy Kitchens, Tony Touchton, Glen Betts, and Dallas Downey.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Brent Sheffield and Payden Sheffield.
