Billy Mochman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Groveton Funeral Home on Jan. 6, 2026.
Billy "Sput" Beauford Mochman was born October 18, 1957, in Lufkin, Texas, to Billy W. Mochman and Joyce Kervin Mochman of Groveton, Texas. He passed away unexpectedly on December 22, 2025, in Henderson County, Texas.

"Sput" was a true Southerner who loved the outdoors and the open road. He enjoyed deer hunting and found peace and freedom in driving trucks and seeing the countryside. Whether traveling back roads or long highways, he appreciated the beauty of the land and the quiet moments that came with life behind the wheel. His love for nature, travel, and simple living left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Joyce Mochman.

Those left to cherish his memory include his brother, Daryl "Den" Mochman and wife, Carren Mochman of Pittsburg, Texas; his aunt and uncle, Kathleen and Luther Cockrell of Woodlake, Texas; his uncle, Butch Kervin of Lufkin, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and extended family.

The family invites everyone to a meet and greet on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Groveton Funeral Home. Burial will follow later at Sumpter Cemetery in Woodlake, Texas.

Billy "Sput" Mochman lived life with a Southern soul and a trucker's heart. He was most at home beneath wide Texas skies, whether in a deer stand at daylight or cruising down the highway with the road stretching out before him. He valued independence, hard work, and the simple freedoms of country living. Though his journey on earth has come to an end, the memory of his steady spirit, love for the land, and life on the open road will continue to roll on in the hearts of those who loved him.
