Billy Wayne Pitts

Mr. Billy Wayne Pitts, age 78, of Ashland passed away on February 2, 2026 at UAB St. Vincent's East in Birmingham. There is a gathering of family and friends to remember Billy at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland on Wednesday February 11, 2026 from 5:30 until 8:00 P.M.

Billy Wayne was born in Talladega County, graduated from Bibb Graves High School and worked for many years as an electrician with Steward Machine Company. He was well known for his love of southern gospel music and performing with several groups over the years, including the Royal Masters, Southern Harmony and the Singing Waynes among others. He enjoyed fishing whenever he could and playing the guitar.

He is survived by three daughters; Ashley Peterson (Matthew) of Ashland, Tracie Smith (Keith) of Ashland, and Kellie Duke (Eddie) of Auburn, step-son; Burell Davenport of Mississippi, and step-daughter; Danley Fenell (Jason) of Oxford, 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, one brother; Wesley Pitts (Margaret) of Talladega. And large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Oscar Berry Pitts and Nina Bell Foster Pitts, four sisters; Catherine Horne, Sybil McWhorter, Patsy Pitts, and Bernice Pitts, and two brothers; Rev. Thompson Pitts and Fred Pitts.
