Billy Gene Pope, 82, of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025.
Born on July 20, 1943 in Ducktown, Tennessee, Billy was the son of the late Ruby Patterson and Lake Pope.
Billy was a devoted member of Chaparral Baptist Church and a faithful Christian throughout his life. A proud veteran, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. He was also a passionate University of Tennessee football fan, cheering on his team with pride.
Billy lived his life firmly rooted in his Baptist faith, guided by a deep love for God, family, and country. He was known for his quick wit, kind heart, and remarkable gift for making others laugh. His joyful spirit brought smiles to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Though he will be dearly missed, Billy's legacy of laughter, faith, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He was a loving brother, uncle, and friend, cherished by all.
Billy is preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Pope; his brother, James "Jack" Lewis Pope; his sister, Wanda Deaver Brown; and 2 step-sons: Donald and Ricky Neal.
Billy is survived by his brother, Donald R Pope; sister, Shirley Mull (Robert Cochrem); daughters: Kathie Davidson, Patsy Ferguson, and Cindy Pope; Step-son, Ronnie Neal; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation, 869 St. James Ave, Goose Creek, South Carolina 29445. The funeral service will be immediately following at 1:00 PM.
The burial will be held at 2:30 PM at Whispering Pines Memorial Gardens, 3044 Old Hwy 52, Moncks Corner, South Carolina 29461.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chaparral Baptist Church, 115 Domingo Drive, Moncks Corner, SC 29461.
