Billy Wendell Stewart, 85, of Albany, GA, died August 20, 2025, at his residence. The visitation will be at 1:00 PM Monday, August 25th in the atrium at Sherwood Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 2:00 PM in the chapel. Reverend John Spencer and Mr. Ross Powell will officiate. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
A native of Dooly County, GA, Billy graduated from Crisp County High School in 1958. He served in the Army and was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. He married Sandra Ann Lane at Warwick Baptist Church in 1963 and moved to Albany, GA. He was employed with the Marine Corps Logistics Base before working at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. Billy was a supervisor and warehouse manager for 35 years before his retirement.
Billy was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church for 52 years. He was in the Fishers of Men Sunday School class. He enjoyed quail hunting, deer hunting, and spending time outdoors at his property in Randolph County, GA. In addition to his parents, Homer and Zula Stewart, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Keith Stewart, Carlos Stewart, Bobby Stewart, and Melvin Stewart.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Lane Stewart of Albany, Ga, his children, Blake Stewart (Stacie Duke) of Terrell County, GA, Brian Stewart (Lisa) of Thornton, PA, and Angie Tanner (Jeff) of Albany, GA, his siblings, Larry Stewart (Carol) of Dooly County, GA, and Jean Craven (Gary) of Gadsden, AL, and grandchildren, Lane Stewart of Athens, GA, Evan Stewart of Thornton, PA, Noah Tanner of Albany, GA, Zack Lee (Hanna), and Amber Lee of Shellman, GA.
