BILLY E. WELCH

Billy Ervin Welch age 82 of Caledonia, Mississippi passed away Thursday November 6, 2025 surrounded by loved ones at his home. Billy was born on March 23, 1943 in Lowndes County, Mississippi to the late Ervin and Verla Welch, and lived his entire life in Kolola Springs, Mississippi.

Services will be held Sunday November 9, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mel Howton, Bro. Chris Harding, and Bro. Jamie Thomas officiating; burial will follow at Egger Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ervin Glendale, and Jimmy Bruce Welch, a daughter Cynthia Welch, and his loving wife of almost 50 years, Sarah Sizemore Welch.

Billy graduated from Caledonia High School and was self-employed for a number of years. Considered a master mechanic by many, Billy began teaching auto mechanics in the Lowndes County School System in 1975 until 1995 at which time he transferred to the transportation department as their supervisor until retiring in 2008. He touched the lives of many young students, during his teaching career, many of whom have kept in touch through the years. Billy enjoyed the outdoors, he loved to fish, hunt, garden and just being close to nature. He was a member of Kolola Springs Baptist Church and was very close to his dear friend Don Harding.

Survivors include his son, Timothy Welch, (Melinda), Grandsons, Josh Welch, (Tiffany), Ben Welch, (fiancee Hanna Burke), Step grandsons, Ryan and Ragan Robinson. Great grandchildren, Brooklyn Rayne and Sarah Camille Welch. Sisters Jane Windle, (Earl), and Judy Garner, (Jim), as well as a host of nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews, and many great friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be, Josh Welch, Ben Welch, Ryan Robinson, Ragan Robinson, Jason Windle, Brian Windle, David Garner, John Baker, Earl Windle, and Wayne Studdard, Jr.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be, Skippy West, Don Harding, the men of Kolola Springs Baptist Church, and his faithful caregivers over the past 5 year.
