Billy Gray White

Billy Gray White, 92, a native of Alamance County, went to be with the Lord

peacefully on February 10, 2026. His passing, much like his life, seemed to be on his own

terms- quiet, gentle, and surrounded by family celebrating a life well-lived and at the end of his

earthly struggles.

Billy spent his life caring for his family and possessed a legendary ability to fix anything that was

broken. He dedicated over 30 years of his professional life as a repairman for Sears. His hands

were rarely still, whether it was appliances, cars, lawn mowers, or bicycles, Billy believed

nothing was ever "too far gone" to be fixed. He saw value where others saw scrap, viewing

every broken item as a treasure waiting for a second chance.

A man who lived life to the fullest and strictly on his own terms, Billy was happiest when piddling

outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who embraced a frugal lifestyle, always

preferring the simple joys of nature and the satisfaction of a job done with his own two hands.

He was a man of the community, always willing to lend his expertise or a helping hand to

anyone in need. He was the devoted husband of the late Ramona Varner White, and while he

dictated the rhythm of his own life, he looked forward to the one thing he could not control: being

reunited with the loved ones who passed before him. He was preceded in death by parents,

J.W. and Florence White. Sisters Ruth Byrd and Jo Byrd and a great granddaughter Sarah

Martin.

Billy's legacy of hard work and kindness lives on through his children: two sons, William (Billy)

White and Bobby White; and his daughter: Betty Robertson and her husband, JR.

He was a proud Grandfather to Paige Hopkins (Tony), Matthew Robertson (Samantha), Willie

Robertson, Whitney Wood (Dylan). His spark continues in his eight great-grandchildren: Brooke

Martin, Sarah Martin, Olivia Robertson, Eleanor Robertson, Autumn Robertson, Andrew

Robertson, Stacey Wood, and Jasper Wood.

Monday February 16, 2026, 10am visitation with family and friends at

Rich and Thompson 306 Glenwood Ave. Burlington, NC 27215

The family will receive friends and family at other times at the home of JR and Betty Robertson.

Memorial service following visitation at Rich and Thompson in Burlington will begin at 11am followed by interment

at Pine Hill Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to Billy's "superstar" caregivers: Yesica

Yasha, and Carolyn for their exceptional care and compassion. Heartfelt appreciation to

Michelle at Authoracare for never giving up even when he told her he didn't need a bath or a

shave. Special thanks are also extended to the staff of Home Place of Burlington and Hospice

Authoracare of Alamance County for their support during his final journey
