Billy Jack Wofford

Celebrating a Life Well Lived Billy Jack Wofford of Fort Smith, Arkansas, lived a life defined by hard work, generosity, and a love of the outdoors. Born June 26, 1938, to Robert and Jessie Wofford, Billy Jack grew up with a deep appreciation for nature and a lifelong connection to White Rock Mountain-his most cherished place of peace, adventure, and reflection. A gifted athlete in every sport he played, Billy Jack was an all-state basketball player, which earned him a full ride basketball scholarship in Kansas. Following college, Billy Jack followed in his father's footsteps and began a career in construction. He founded a construction company in his name and spent his life building custom homes. He was a true craftsman and wiz at geometry which made carpentry a natural fit for him. Bill also loved to tinker and could fix anything whether it be a car or a toaster. Billy Jack's heart was as big as the Ozark Mountains. He adored dogs, horses, and all animals, and found joy in sharing his famous outdoor barbecue with family and friends. He was always ready to root for the underdog and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He is survived by his children, Bill Wofford (Lindsay), Diana Gray, and Lisa Fletcher (Chris); his grandchildren, Chelsea McGill (Jimmy), Jacob Fletcher (Cornelia), Sam Fletcher (Grace), Adam Fletcher (Alani), Sydney Wofford, and Ann Marie Wofford; and his great-grandchildren, Carter Reynolds McGill, Willa Fletcher, Sparrow Fletcher, and Ruth Fletcher. His favorite stool at the local bar was more than a seat-it was a place where friendships old and new were forged over countless conversations and generations. Whether hunting, fishing, or simply taking in the views from White Rock Mountain, Billy Jack found his greatest happiness surrounded by the land and people he loved. Billy Jack leaves behind a legacy of kindness, grit, and generosity of spirit. His memory will live on in every story told, every meal shared, and every trail leading to the summit of White Rock.
