Birtie Probes-Dickerson, 84, of Craigsville, Virginia passed away Friday, September 12, 2025, at her home.

She was born June 20, 1941, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of the late Hollis Hudson and Birtie Freeman Ross.

Birtie worked for the Federal Government for over 40 years to include working for the Pentagon, The United States Postal Service, and the Department of Energy before she retired. She also worked for the following professional sports teams in the Washington, DC area: The Washington Nationals Baseball Club, The Washington Redskins, and DC United Soccer Club. After retiring from the Federal Government, Ms. Probes-Dickerson decided to return to school to study Religious Education. She would eventually earn a PhD in Religious Education and become a teacher, working very closely with other students who wanted to study and learn the Word of God. Afterwards, she answered the call on her spirit and her heart to become a servant of God as a minister. In her ministry, she focused on serving the elderly around the Washington, DC area. She would go on to become an associate pastor at two churches in the Prince George's County region in Maryland.

She was a member of the D.C. Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America and had a PhD in Religious Education.

Birtie is survived by her daughter, Karen Morrison; and special pets: Harley, Bueno, Ebbie, Trixie.

She was preceded in death by her sisters: Nellie and Ann; and her many beloved dogs: Dixie, Cozy, Gizzie, Ginger, Chica, Tanza, Chelsea, Chad, Lady, Lord Buff, and Chi Chi.

A graveside service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Friday, September 19, 2025, at Fort Lincoln Cemetery with Pastor Albert Chatmon officiating.
