Blanca Chaviano Obituary

She was born in Placetas, Cuba. Blanca resided in Perth Amboy from 1975 until 1995 before moving to Old Bridge, and then lived in Monroe Township from 2017 until her passing.
She had a passion for education and was a teacher in Cuba. After immigrating to the US in 1970, she attended both Montclair University and Kean College to earn her Bachelor's degree and then her Master's degree. She was a teacher first in Perth Amboy and then in Carteret before she retired at 70.
Blanca was predeceased by her loving husband Orfilio. She leaves behind her beloved son Orfilio Chaviano Jr. and his wife Millie of Morris Plains, her daughter Elizabeth Barclay and her husband Brian of Monroe Township, her seven grandchildren, Tabitha (and her husband Jhovanny), Daniella, Kayla, Aidan, Dylan, Emily, and Kelsy, her great grandchildren Johan and Julianna, her sister and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home 424 East Avenue Perth Amboy, New Jersey on Monday July 15th, 2024 from 9:30am until 11:30am with interment to follow in Alpine Cemetery, Perth Amboy.

After running into a former colleague from Carteret, Blanca crossed my mind I taught with her in Carteret early in my career for 5 years. We would go out to lunch and share some great laughs. I had a great deal of admiration and respect for Blanca. She was a great mom, wife, teacher and friend. She was a seasoned teacher when i started as a first year teacher so i appreciated and learned a thing or two from her life values. My only regret is that we lost contact when i moved out of state but she will always live warmly and fondly in my memory. Rest in peace classy lady.
