Bob Edward Ake, 77, passed away on January 20, 2024, in Abilene, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, hard work, and love. Born in Bryan, Texas, to George and Dorothy Ake on March 1, 1946, Bob's journey through life was marked by dedication to family and a diverse set of skills.
Growing up in Abilene, Texas, Bob attended Franklin School, where he laid the foundation for a life characterized by a strong work ethic and a passion for learning. He embarked on a career as a mechanic and moving specialist, showcasing his versatility as a true jack of all trades.
Bob's life was not just about work; he found joy in simple pleasures. He had a green thumb and took pride in his yard work, creating a beautiful and welcoming space for family and friends. Barbeques were a common occurrence, filled with laughter, good food, and the warmth of Bob's company. A true Texan at heart, Bob was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
Above all, Bob was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a doting grandfather and great grandfather. His family meant everything to him, and he cherished the moments spent together, creating a foundation of love and support that will endure beyond his physical presence.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Bob is survived by his wife, Janith Ake; his children, Doyle Couch Jr. , Lisa Stephens and husband Daniel, Rhonda Gaines, Bob Ake Jr. and his wife Gayla. His grandchildren, Nathan Stephens, Leslie McDonald, Sheri Gaines, Michael Ake, Doug Gaines Jr., Joshua Ake, and Nevaeh; 11 great grandchildren; his siblings, Harold Ake, Dennis Ake, Ronnie Ake, Mickey Ellison, and Timothy Ellison; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In honoring the memory of Bob Edward Ake, we remember a man who embraced life with passion, worked hard with dedication, and loved fiercely. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him, and his spirit will forever be woven into the fabric of Abilene, Texas.
A visitation will be held 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Thursday, January, 25, 2024 at Elmwood Funeral Home 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Refuge Ministries, 6010 Hwy 277 South. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park.
