Pastor Kretzschmar was installed as the fourth pastor of First Lutheran Church in Towson in 1971, and he served until August 19, 1975 when he left to enter a training program in clinical pastoral education. Although I did not join First Lutheran until 1980, Pastor Kretzschmar's name and his service as a caring, warm, and dedicated servant of Christ was well known and recognized. The story of the beach ministry with his brother, Don, is recounted in my history of First Lutheran: A Legacy Church in Towson, Maryland.
I am saddened to learn of his death, and offer my condolences.
