Bob Risley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McGeehan Funeral Homes Keck-Coleman Chapel on Mar. 4, 2026.
Robert Royal Risley, age 96, of Ovid, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at his daughter's house.

He was born on January 19, 1930, in Greenbush Township, Michigan, to Royal J. and Eathel C. (Dickenson) Risley. Bob graduated from Ovid High School in 1948 and later served his country honorably in the United States Army. On August 2, 1953, Bob married the love of his life, Ivah Acre. The two shared many years together until her passing in 2012.

Bob worked for many years as an electrician and was known as a hardworking and capable man. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Some of his favorite memories were made at the family cabin in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and at their cottage on Higgins Lake. In retirement, Bob and his wife spent winters in Florida, you would often find him fishing while there.

He also enjoyed working with his hands and woodworking, often making walking sticks and helping others when they needed it. Bob loved being outdoors and remained active well into his later years, often riding his quad around the property and still doing so as recently as this past fall.

He is survived by his children, Ron (Connie) Risley, Cindy (Mike) Rademacher, Gayla (Rex) Ruehle, and Lynette (Chris) Smith; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ivah Risley; and his brother, Allen.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Rochester Colony Chapel, 5597 Maple Road, St. Johns. Jack Brown will officiate; full military honors will follow. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the chapel. A luncheon will follow.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bethshean Mexico Mission in lieu of flowers.
