My condolences to Bob, his immediate family, and his CBS family on his loss. Have been a long time viewer of 60 Minutes and it is an educational and enjoyable newscast. Bob reminds me so much of another equally fine journalist, Peter Jennings. Loved them both. RIP.

My deepest sympathies to Bob's family and his CBS family. So sad to hear of his loss; a bright light has gone out on 60 Minutes. Loved his fascinating stories and interviews from all around the world. They were stories we might never have heard about if it weren't for Bob's interest and wonderful curiosity about people and places. Particularly loved his story on the children of Paraguay, playing instruments made from trash.
Bob, thank you for sharing your journalistic talents with us every week. I believe that you brought out the best in everyone your met. God bless.

My sense of loss is profound. Bob Simon was such an inspiration, so very gifted. I sometimes felt like a child at his knee while I listened to his stories. While I never knew him personally, it seemed as though we grew up together, beginning with the stories about the Viet Nam conflict. My husband, Lt. Bernis G. Clement, lost 2 men on his first mission, January 24, 1970. Ironically, that is also my birthday. When Bob said he wanted to be remembered for irony, that truly resonated with me. I lost my husband unexpectedly 3 years ago, just as we all lost Bob unexpectedly last week. How ironic. May Bob's family and those of you who were lucky enough to know him personally find comfort and solace knowing he touched so many lives. May the joyful noise made by the orchestra in the Congo forever bring you happiness as a wonderful reminder of Bob. God Bless!

My deepest condolences to the family of the lovely sweet "boy" I knew as Bobby, my childhood friend that I grew up with at 1041 Nelson Ave in the Bronx. I'm stunned to learn they were one and the same and heartbroken that this great man that I followed for years and wondered is this my friend Bobby Simon, is gone. We played together in the lobby and built snow forts after the blizzard of '47, celebrated his ninth birthday with his kind family and loved listening to Burl Ives records in his living room, never dreaming of his accomplishments and life to come.I'm so sorry we didn't meet again and go over our adventures together. Thank you Bobby, you were the best. Lois Fox Robinson, Scarsdale, New York
