Bobbie Dean Armstrong

Bobbie Dean (McLaren) Armstrong, 84, of Hewitt, left this world to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, in San Angelo, Texas.

Memorial service have been canceled and may be rescheduled at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Directors.

Bobbie Armstrong was born May 29, 1941 in Forrest City, Arkansas to Robert Alton and Dorothy Marie McLaren. Bobbie met Thomas Armstrong while living in Monahans, Texas and the two were married on February 21, 1962 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Bobbie and Thomas spent approximately 31 years in Monahans, Texas where Thomas Armstrong worked for Halliburton. Bobbie was a homemaker most of the time, but went to work for about 12 years as a dispatcher for the Monahans Police Department. Bobbie always called the officers her "boys" and told stories of how she helped solve crimes in Monahans. Bobbie and Thomas Armstrong went all over Texas where Thomas was participating in radio-controlled airplane fly-ins. They eventually moved to the Central Texas area around 1993, settling down in Hewitt, Texas. In retirement, Thomas was very active with his flying club and Bobbie would help at the flying field, especially when the club hosted fly-ins. They remained in Hewitt, Texas for 31 years. When Bobbie began to have health issues, she moved to San Angelo, Texas for skilled nursing care in 2023. While in San Angelo, she loved to worship through the Southgate Church of Christ internet link or attend services provided by the Meadow Creek facility. In her younger years, Bobbie enjoyed spending time with family and going camping. One of her greatest joys was when she became "Memaw" to her granddaughters. She loved when Kelsey and Ashley would come and spend time with her and Thomas (Pepaw) during the summers. Bobbie enjoyed doing yard work and also loved drawing, painting, crocheting and sewing. Playing Bingo with her friends at the Meadow Creek Nursing Home was a highlight of her last few years. Bobbie loved and couldn't wait to receive her hugs from her great grandson, Karsyn, and enjoyed having surprises ready to give him on each visit. Bobbie loved her dogs and always had one or more in the house.

Bobbie is survived by her husband of 63 years, Thomas Armstrong of the home in Hewitt; her daughter, Kathy Kemp and husband Philip of Christoval; two granddaughters, Kelsey Kemp of Hewitt and Ashley Kemp of Christoval; a great grandson, Karsyn Kemp of Christoval; a sister, Jeanne Brown of Blanchard, Oklahoma along with nieces, Leisa Yarbrough and Stella Cox and their families also in Blanchard, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Edward Armstrong and wife Kathryn; niece, Kimberly Moss and husband Garrett and family; nephew, Scott Armstrong and wife Jamie and family and Christopher Armstrong and family. Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents and nephew, Jerry Lynn.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff and residents of the Meadow Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in San Angelo. Each one made her time there one of the happiest moments of her life and provided great assistance to us with her care. We would also like to say thank you to the nurses and CNA's with Hospice of San Angelo for your care and compassion provided to Bobbie and the family during transition to the end of life. May you all be truly blessed as we were.
