Bobbie Claudette Funderburg Christian

Bobbie Claudette Funderburg Christian, age 90, passed away, March, 11, 2026, after a brief illness.

She was born in Ruleville, Mississippi, to Gracie Mae Baker-King and Alfred Clint Funderburg, the middle child of nine children in a rural sharecropper family. In 1954, she married Roy Edward (Ed) Christian and had a stillborn child in 1955. She had a career at the General Industries factory in Forrest City before leaving upon the birth of her son Terry in 1971 to become a homemaker and small business entrepreneur. She also worked for several years as a seamstress doing alterations.

Bobbie was an avid lover of nature, loving to fish, garden, feed wildlife, and explore. She loved music and sang gospel songs with her husband Ed in churches around east Arkansas. She was generous with her time and talents, and served others with humility and dignity.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy Edward (Ed) Christian, and her stillborn son Daniel. She is survived by her son, Terry E. Christian of Las Cruces, NM (longtime of Memphis, TN) with his husband Ernest (Danny) Jennings Jr.; and by the niece she had raised since infancy, Natasha N. Eldridge Marcum of Wynne, AR and her husband Harvey (Gene) Marcum.

A memorial service will be held Graveside, 11:00 A.M., Monday, at the Hughes Cemetery in Forrest City. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. You may log on to stevensfuneralhome.net for the online registry.
