Bobbie Harris Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mabrie Memorial Mortuary on Dec. 9, 2025.
Bobbie Jean Harris was born April 16, 1936, in Nacogdoches, TX to Matilda and Alvin Dean, both of whom have been called to their heavenly reward.

Bobbie was educated in the Jamestown Community Public School System. After graduation, Bobbie moved to Hungerford, TX to seek better employment opportunities. Bobbie became seasoned with love when she met Clyde Henderson Harris on a trip to the beach with her cousin Mary in Galveston, TX. Soon after they wed, and from this union came Clyde Henderson Harris Jr., Beverly Ann Harris, Antoinette Jean Harris, Michelle Rene Harris.

Bobbie found employment with Harris Funeral Home in Galveston, TX, Kmart in Houston, TX, and Houston I.S.D. Bobbie Jean Harris always had a revolving door for family, friends, and even strangers who needed assistance.

Bobbie and Clyde shared 55 years of marital bliss before Clyde's earthly departure on November 4, 2010.

Bobbie took an interest in sports due to her family's participation in athletic activities. She was an avid football fan and could frequently be found on Sunday's yelling and cheering for her favorite teams.

Bobbie found pleasure in traveling back to her hometown of Newton, TX and the Indian Hill Community to fish and spend time with family and friends. A talented pianist, she could be found slipping behind a piano at homecoming events and wooing the crowds. She found immense pleasure in playing her piano at home for family and at church.

After a productive and blessed life, Bobbie Jean Harris entered eternal rest on December 5, 2025. Bobbie was preceded in death by her Husband, Clyde Henderson Harris; her son, Clyde Henderson Harris Jr.; her father, Alvin Dean; her mother, Matilda Dean; brothers, Elester "Sonny" Dean, James Williams "J.W." Dean, Jimmy "Jack" Dean, sisters; Florence Hawkins, Telson Warren and Betty Joe Joiner.

Bobbie is forever cherished in memory by her brother Jessie Dean of Newton, TX; daughters Beverly Hawkins of Houston, TX, Antoinette Brown (Bruce) of Missouri City, TX, Michelle Harris of Missouri City, TX, and Sheila Wilson (Keith) of Houston, TX; nine grandchildren, Edward Harris (Kiya), Shemeka Harris Senegal (Curtis), Gregory Keith Wilson, Antonisha Wilson (Bernard), Taira Hawkins (Jecori), Chakila Diggs Barrett, Chante Ray, Clyde Harris Cook, and Erik Harris (Mar'Teria); 15 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, and other family members.
