Bobbie Jo Mitchell was born on January 17, 1932 to Dave and Alcester Blanton, Sr. in Hendrix, Oklahoma. She was the third child of five children and the second girl born into that union.
Bobbie Jo received her education in Hendrix and Colbert, Oklahoma. As an adult, she received her GED certification. She worked at Levi Strauss & Co. in Denison, Texas for over 18 years and retired to care for her mother.
Her fellowship with Christ began at Mount Calvary Baptist Church at the age of 12. She was an active and dedicated member of this church throughout her life. Bobbie Jo demonstrated an unwavering commitment to her family, friends and community.
Bobbie Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Alcester Blanton; her eldest son, James Edward Mitchell; her sisters, Beulah Mae Burton and Estella Myrtle Rogers; her brothers, Arthur (Tee) Blanton, Dave Blanton Jr., and Harvey Blanton.
She leaves behind cherished and loving memories with her children, Harold Mitchell, Rena (Ladon) Bell, Kevin Ray (April) Mitchell, and Kenneth Alan (Migdalia) Mitchell; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, who will strive to uphold the values she instilled in them.
