Bobbie Smith Obituary
Sunday, November 30, 2025, Bobbie Jean Smith, 91, of Wallace, NC died peacefully at home.
Bobbie was born on March 18, 1934, in Pike County, Kentucky to Bradley Scott and Nancy Coleman Scott. She married Franklin D. Smith in August 1952 and the family settled in Point Pleasant, WV before relocating to the Wilmington, NC area in 1975.
In addition to her parents, Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin D. Smith; her brothers, Burland, Sterl, Dave and John Scott, and sister, Betty Joe Justice.
Surviving to cherish her memory is her son, Frank (Vee Ann) Smith of Hampstead, NC; daughter, Theresa (Jeff) Milne of Wallace, NC; grandsons, Roger (Anna Maria Cancelli) Blake of Hampstead, NC; Randy (Shaunda) Blake of Leland, NC; and Ryan-Michael Blake of Norfolk, VA; and great-grandchildren, Bradley Blake, Shawn Blake and Jesse Blake.
An expert seamstress, Bobbie was employed by Block Shirt Company from 1975 until her retirement as supervisor in 1998. She began designing and making her own clothes as a young teenager, cutting the patterns from a newspaper. She delighted in making clothes and costumes for her children and grandchildren.
Her God-given gift was that of service. She would always think of others above herself. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Among her greatest blessings was having the opportunity to provide care for her twin great-grandsons and great-granddaughter while their parents were at work. She tried to make each day exciting and a learning experience for them.
The gratitude of the family is extended to Jordan and Katie and the staff from 3HC home hospice care for the invaluable assistance they provided in Bobbie’s last days.
With II Timothy 4:7-8, Bobbie can confidently say: “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
There will be a private family service at a later date.
