Bobbie Jean Sylvester was born on October 9th,1945, in West Point Ms. to Mary Alice and Earl Townsend both of whom preceded her in death. She was the oldest of five children, Earlie Mae Townsend & Stella Louise Townsend both of whom preceded her in death, Fred Douglas Townsend and Ella Fay Bell. She was also blessed with two "Bonus" sisters she met early in her life and they kept a close bond throughout the years, Samella Hargro and Lucille "Dollie" Harris.
Bobbie accepted our Lord and Savior as the head of her life at an early age and lived her life according to the word of God. She was a devoted member of Prayer Tower Church of God in Christ for over 20 years. While at Prayer Tower, she served in numerous ministries including being a member of the Choir, a member of the Hospitality committee, a children's Sunday School teacher as well as a Children's Church teacher. Several years before she was called home to be with the Lord, she became a member of Progressive Life-Giving Word Cathedral. She attended service in person for about a year and when her health challenges began, she continued to worship through online service. Even with her health challenges, her faith in God never wavered. She was a great example to her children, grandchildren, and everyone she encountered of living for God, building your faith in God, and always trusting in God.
Bobbie graduated from Fifth St High School in 1963 and moved to Chicago, Il., soon after her graduation, where she resided with her Uncle Charlie Price, his loving wife Shirley, and their children. Bobbie worked various jobs before becoming a licensed beautician in 1985 and a few years later became a business owner by opening her beauty salon, Bobbie's Beauty Salon in Chicago. In the late 90's Bobbie transitioned to owning a home daycare as well as creating a safe environment for children as a foster parent. Bobbie expanded her family with the birth of her four children Jr, Angel, Lynn & Eric. Bobbie married Rev. Samuel Sylvester in 1991, who preceded her in death. She answered a special calling that God placed on her life and opened her home to over 20 children as a foster parent over the span of 18 years. Bobbie and her late husband Samuel also adopted 4 four children that had been placed in their care, they loved and raised these four children as their own.
She leaves to cherish her memory, four God-given children, Jerome Hudson Jr., Shawana "Angel" (Terrence) Hyde, Edwina Lynn Hudson, and Eric Campbell.
