Bobby Ray Bowman, died on January 3, 2024, at his home in
Haskell, Oklahoma at the age of 45 years, 11 months and 26 days. He was born on January 8, 1978, in
Seminole, Texas, to Donna Jean Bowman and Jackie Lee McCullough.
Bobby grew up in Coweta and Haskell with his grandmother, Jacquetta "Grammur" Bowman. He was a 1997 graduate of Haskell High School where he played football for the Haymakers. During his teenage years, the rambunctious Bobby also lived with Wayne and Robbin Nicholson in Haskell. While living there, he begged Susan, their daughter, to get Desiree to go out with him, he loved her from the day he met her. She finally said yes on October 14, 1994 and they dated throughout the remainder of their high school years. Bobby and Desiree were married on October 16, 1999. They made their home in Haskell and had two daughters, Elise Dawn and Kaydence Michelle. His girls were his world. If you spent any time with him, you would know he only wanted the best for his girls and just how proud of them he was.
Bobby accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior early in 2001 at the First Free Will Baptist Church of Haskell. He was active in the church and enjoyed taking the teens on rappelling trips to Robbers Cave, building and decorating Christmas floats, operating the sound for church services and events, and being a costumed storyteller for Vacation Bible School. He never hesitated to give his testimony and share what God was doing in his life. He loved anything on the water and outdoors. During the summer, you would find him with his family and Doug and Kay Enkey at the lake, spending time fishing and boating. He enjoyed hunting and learning to fix things on YouTube. He would watch videos, and there wasn't much he couldn't figure out how to fix.
To know Bobby was really something. He could be inpatient, but would wrap his arms around you and give you the biggest hug you just knew everything was going to be ok. If you needed him, he was there. Bobby loved his family, his church family, and his friends. His heart was huge! He would do anything for the people he loved. He never met a stranger and could talk to them like he had known them for years.
Bobby's work ethic was admirable. He was motivated, a hard worker, dependable, and one you could count on. He was a perfectionist and had high standards in his work. He worked many years in construction and learned great skills for concrete work and French drains as well as operating tools and machinery. He then worked for the town of Haskell with the street and parks department. He enjoyed being home and available to attend his girls various activities. Most recently, Bobby was working towards the opportunity to have an independent delivery route with Bimbo Bakeries.
Bobby is survived by his wife Desiree of 24 years, and his two daughters, Elise and Kaydence of the home; his mother Donna Jean McCants; one brother Chief (Jessica) Bowman; uncles John McCullough and Lucky Bowman; three aunts Lynn Lenard, Tracy Skougard, and Camie Huddleston; mother-in-law Dawn Brittain, sisters-in-law Cheryl (Charlie) Bunch, Stephanie Lino, Malissa Brittain, and Rebecca Brittain; special family friends Doug and Kay Enkey and Sonny and Sue Hembree and their families; as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Jackie Lee McCullough, grandparents Jacquetta Bowman, and Ina and Jack McCullough, and father-in-law Timmey Brittain, and uncle James Lenard.
