Bobby Preston Dent departed this earth on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, in Collins, MS. He was 79 years old. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 10, 2023, and from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. and the interment will follow in the Garden of Memories.
Bobby was born on July 18, 1944, to Rollins Preston and Evelyn Mangum Dent in Jackson, MS. As a military family he grew up in England, California, and Pakistan. He also spent time in Holland. He served in the United States Air Force and Air National Guard from 1964 to 2009. Bobby loved riding motorcycles, taking pictures of family and family events.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, R.P. and Evelyn Dent. He is survived by is wife of 56 years, Sheila Dent of Brandon; sons, Rollins Dent (Ronda) of Florence, and Randy Dent (Amy) of Brandon; grandchildren, Sarah Dent, Annalise Dent, Alaina Dent, Angel Thompson (Richard), and Ryan Wood (Ashlynn); great grandchildren, Camden Hanks, Kylee Thompson, Emmery Wood, and Nylah Wood; sister, Pamela Jayne Dent Willis of Arkansas; several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
