Bobby J. DeVaughan, 88, of West Barnstable, passed away on July 15, 2024. The son of the late Zed F. DeVaughan, Sr and Ilma F. (McCarty) DeVaughan. Born in Binger, OK, Bobby enlisted in the Air Force in 1954, after graduating from High School. He started his Military service as Airborne Weapons System Radar Technician, working on Fighter Interceptor Aircraft and finished his career in the Base Data Automation field. He served 20 years and retired in 1974 as a Senior Master Sergeant. He was awarded 4 Air Force Commendations and numerous other awards. He met his lovely wife, Elsa, while stationed at Otis Air Force Base, in 1955. They were married in Bobby's hometown of Binger, in Oct 1956 and celebrated 67 years of marriage. He continued his career, serving with Elsa and his two daughters, at Otis AFB, Clark AFB in the Philippines, Davis Monthan AFB Tucson, Ariz., returning to Otis AFB, where he was Chief of Special Services, and NCOIC of the Base Data Automation. His final assignment was NCOIC of Base Data Automation at Tyndall AFB, Florida. He also served an unaccompanied tour at Keflavik Naval Air Station, Iceland. After his retirement in 1974, the family returned to Cape Cod. His second career was working for the US Post Office for 20 years.
He loved the great outdoors where he lived. He enjoyed his retirement years singing and playing his guitar, until ALS took his voice.

Survived by his wife, Elsa (Carlson) DeVaughan, daughters, Dianne (DeVaughan) and her husband Tim Haskins of Ipswich, MA, Sheila DeVaughan of West Barnstable, Grandsons Eric, Brian, Devin and Galen and their partners, 6 great grandchildren: Jalyn, Coby, Quinn, Grayson, Dakota and Oliver. One surviving brother, Darwin, and sister, Darlene of Oklahoma.
He is predeceased by his daughter, Julie V. DeVaughan, His brothers Alvin, J.C., Beryl, Royce, Johnnie, Zed, Jr., and sister Naomi Fissell.
Private burial with Military Honors at a later date at Crocker Park, West Barnstable, MA.
