I have grown up watching the Sox, and although I am way too young to have watched him play, I know the greats by name as a fan. Had the opportunity to meet Don and he was the nicest guy around. Thank you for inviting me to the funeral. I was unable to attend sadly but I will always remember the kindness you showed by sending me the invite. I'm sorry for your loss but he will forever live in the hearts of every Red Sox fan, young and old. Goodbye Silent Captain, God speed.

I saw Bobby Doerr play in Chicago and St. Louis. In a950 I witnessed a double header in which the Red Sox won both games and moved into first place. The second game lasted sixteen innings. Doerr's defensive play was outstanding; time after time he turned potential rbi hits into outs. I called him after his wife died;Itold him I had seen that
double header, and he remembered that night.
He remembered making one play in which he moved to this left, cleanly scooped up a smash by Jim Busby and threw out the speedy runner on close play. We both seemed to enjoy the memory. I later attended a baseball card show, and introduced myself as he signed my copy of The Teammates. Bobby was classy both on and off the diamond. I am 81 years old and he was still my hero.

I'm writing for 2 men from Junction City, both have passed away. They both always had good words to say about Bobby Doerr and thought highly of him. The first man was my Dad, Holger Jensen, City Recorder of Junction City, he always enjoyed it when Mr. Doerr came into his office or he just saw him around town, my Dad always talked very highly of Bobby, a Christian man and a friend to Many. The second man I am writing for is Dr. Clifford Matson, I was talking to his daughter recently and she asked me to include his thoughts of Mr. Doerr. A wonderful, kind man and a Christian man. All 3 had this in common, kindness, fair men and all Christians. Junction City has lost their Baseball Hero, but I'm sure these 3 men will meet and have a great talk when meeting in Heaven.

GOD BLESS,

Wish there were more players like Bobby Doerr today. They loved the game and were
grateful and honored to play. We were glued
to the TV to watch or to the radio !!
Thank You Mr Doerr for being a great American ball player who brought us so
much joy and dedication to the sport.

I have thought of you often, the last few years. I wondered what you were thinking and if you were still fishing. I wondered how much baseball you were watching and which players you liked. I respected you and enjoyed the chats we would have about my Royals. I know you had a full life and now you are back with Monica. Until we meet again!

Grew up hearing stories about him from my father. Wrote him later in life and he signed cards for both my son and I. Ask any baseball autograph collector - He is the nicest player to ever grace the game. He will be greatly missed.

My mom's all time favorite Red Sox player and somebody I grew up with in my early days of interest in baseball. A great guy and only wish more professional athletes could be like him. His wife, my mom and dad, and so many others who idolized and loved him are with him now.

One of my three favorite Red Sox( Doerr, Mel Parnel, Dom Dimogio). What a player but moreso, what a person. He represents baseball as well as anyone has in history. A credit to his sport, his community, and to his country. It's an honor to be a fellow veteran. With a heavy heart I send out prayers to all of his family and for his memory.
