Bobby Joe Farris, a devoted follower of Jesus, the Christ, beloved husband, cherished father, proud grandfather, and dedicated member of his community, peacefully passed away on September 20th, 2024. He was 79 years old.
Born on June 30, 1945, in rural St. Catherine Missouri, Bobby was the son of Earl Vernon and Cleo Margarette McNurlin Farris. He grew up in a loving family where he was adored by his older brother Virgil Farris and his Aunt Jo Ellen Alverez and her husband Raymond Alverez, who preceded him in death.
Bobby dedicated 35 years of his life to the Brown Shoe Company, where he earned a reputation for hard work, reliability, and camaraderie among his colleagues. His commitment to excellence and diligence was evident in every task he undertook.
A faithful member of the body of Christ where he attended the Assemblies of God, Bobby served as a Deacon, offering his time and talents to support and uplift his church community. His steadfast faith in God was the cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and decisions with grace and wisdom.
On October 21, 1965, Bobby married the love of his life, Sandra Kay Bradley, with whom he shared 59 cherished years. Together, they raised their son, Bobby Joe Farris Jr. (BJ), and his daughter, Susie Elaine Farris. Bobby was also known for his close fatherly bond with his niece, Rhonda Kershner, whom he held dear to his heart.
As a father, Bobby instilled Christian values and provided unwavering love and guidance to his children. His influence extended to his grandson Elijah Asher Farris, whom he cherished dearly.
Outside of his professional and religious endeavors, Bobby enjoyed collecting and selling antiques. He approached every aspect of life with a spirit of kindness, generosity, and a deep sense of responsibility to his family and community.
Bobby Joe Farris will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by his devoted wife Sandra, his children BJ. and Susie, his grandson Elijah, and a host of relatives, friends, and church members whose lives he touched profoundly.
A service to celebrate Bobby's life will be held at Praise Assembly of God located at 4300 Clark Ln, Columbia, Missouri 65202 on October 19, 2024. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Bob would like for everyone to invite a person to hear the Gospel of God. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Assemblies of God BGMC program or a charity of your choice in honor of Bob's dedication to serving others.
Bob leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and kindness that will continue to inspire and comfort those who were fortunate enough to have known him. Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find solace in knowing that he now rests peacefully in the presence of his Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus the Christ.
