Bobby Maxwell Gosnell, 81, of Boiling Springs, passed away on June 20, 2025, under excellent care at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many in his community.

Max is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Marilyn Hall Gosnell, whom he married on January 2, 1965. Also surviving are two daughters and six grandchildren: Lacy Hedden (Kirk) of Mount Pleasant, SC and their two children Daniel and Rachel; and Julie Cook (Bruce) of Jonesville, SC and their four children Branson (Kaylee), John Edward, Lily Grace, and Shawna. Max was anticipating the birth of his first great grandchild to Branson and Kaylee in December, William Brooks.

Max was the fourth of seven siblings and is survived by Annette Ward, Roger Gosnell, Judy Jones, and Don Gosnell. He is predeceased by Evelyn Gosnell and Doris Harmon.

Marilyn’s dog, Katie Bell, was a gift from Max and received much love from him during all their time together.

Max was born October 2, 1943, in Campobello, SC to Birch and Nora Radford Gosnell. He attended Boiling Springs High School and later earned an associate's degree from Cecil’s Business College. Max served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. He then had a distinguished career of 30 years at Hoechst Celanese, primarily in the role of Traffic Supervisor.

Throughout his life, Max was active in community organizations including the Masonic Lodge in Arcadia and the American Legion Post 200 located in Boiling Springs. Max took pride in working with his hands and was a self-taught woodworker. He enjoyed restoring furniture, crafting antique replicas, and creating pieces of his own design. He took special joy in crafting items for his grandchildren. Another favored pastime of Max’s was playing pool, and he won the APA SC Upperstate Championship in 1999. Max also took pride in caring for his yard, which won neighborhood accolades due to his perfect lawn and Marilyn’s green thumb.
