Bobby Harris Obituary
August 21, 1933 - January 4, 2026
Bobby Joe Harris, born August 21, 1933, in Green Creek, N.C., passed away January 4, 2026. He was the son of the late Jade and Mamie Fowler Harris.
Bob graduated from Appalachian State University and dedicated his career to education, teaching at both A.C. Reynolds and Enka High School in Buncombe County, North Carolina. He was also a co-owner in a WNC real estate agency. He was a faithful member of Lakeview Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Curtis Harris, and four sisters, Mildred Painter, Shirley Harris, Kathleen Harris, and Marie Head.
He is survived by his loving wife, Josie Matthews Harris; stepdaughter, Candace Matthews Blanchard; step-grandchildren, Avery, Ethan, and Ansley; a special niece, Natalie Harris and sisters-in-law, Kathleen Raby and Shelby Harris.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2026, in the chapel at Bass-Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Troy Grant officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the funeral home.
A private committal service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler, N.C., on Monday.
