Bobby J. Henderson

Bobby Joe Henderson of Newberry, SC, was born November 17, 1963, to the late Anthony Henderson and the late Ida Mae Leake Henderson. He departed into eternal rest January 4, 2026, at Prisma Health Heart Hospital in Columbia, SC surrounded by his family and friends.

He attended Laurnes county Schools systems during his childhood years, he was a graduate of Newberry High School Class of 1984. He was a devoted servant of Belmont Baptist Church, where he selflessly served as a member of the Trustee and Usher Board, and a member of Sons of Aid Lodge #57. Bobby was passionately employed by the Newberry County Disability and special needs, where he served for over 30 years, achieving numerous accolades and medals through the special olympics program. He took great joy in providing entertainment at family gatherings, cheering on his favorite football team Dallas Cowboys, and music, where the tunes of Elvis Presley would ring out.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother JD Henderson, and one sister, Julia Mae McGowan.

Bobby's enduring legacy continues through the lives of three children he raised: niece Terkysha Henderson of Newberry, SC; great-niece Myesha L. Guise (Ced) of Columbia, SC; and great-nephew Antonio Langford of Charlotte, NC. Furthermore, his memory lives on through two sisters, Mattie Henderson of Simpsonville, SC, and Lesa Lindsay of Irmo, SC; one brother, Ervin Henderson (Shirley) of Greer, SC; one sister-in-law, Berlinda W. Henderson of Newberry, SC; devoted nephew Lamont Darby of Clinton, SC; and a host of special friends, including Peggy Peoples, Vera Gaulden, Roger Wise, Trina Wright, and Coach George Williams, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who have been profoundly impacted by his extraordinary life.

Funeral services will be conducted 2pm Sunday, January 11, 2026, Belmont Baptist Church, 301 Belmont Baptist Church Rd., Silverstreet, SC 29145.

Burial will follow in the Church Yard Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at the home of his sister-in-law Berlinda Wells Henderson 2695 Old Whitmire Hwy, Newberry, SC 29108.
