Bobby Earl Hinds, age 63, passed away on December 20, 2025, in New Braunfels, Texas. He was born on April 6, 1962, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He grew up in Uvalde, Texas and Laredo, Texas, where he graduated from Laredo United High School. He eventually made his home in San Antonio, Texas. While in Uvalde, TX, he and his brother were both involved in Little League baseball as they teamed up to play great games.

Bobby lived a life marked by spreading joy through his warm smile, infectious laughter, and many, many of his life stories. He found his greatest happiness spending time with family, enjoying cooking, fishing, skeet shooting, and hunting. Bobby spent many seasons dove hunting with friends, made countless deep-sea fishing trips, and loved to participate in fund-raising skeet shoots. At an early age in Laredo, he learned to fish on freshwater tanks and lakes on ranches that his grandfather farmed. Later on, he became an expert saltwater fisherman routinely catching limits of red snapper, trout, and flounder. Family vacations in Port Mansfield were a highlight of his sport fishing. He had a good reputation as a deer hunter, but his real passion was dove hunting. Always anticipating the beginning of the season, he turned the doves into jalapeno stuffed, bacon-wrapped breasts on the grill. His proudest hunt was when his uncle took him and his brother to Canada where Bobby claimed the biggest trophy of his life: a black bear. He recently participated in a skeet shoot in honor of his mother-in-law to raise money for breast cancer research.

Not only was he a good game cook, Bobby excelled as a chef in the kitchen coming up with recipes of gumbo, ribs, bacon-wrapped stuffed shrimp, and seafood bisque. He was passionate about cooking and enjoyed sharing his creations with others. It brought a big smile to his face to see family and friends savor the food he prepared. Bobby also loved watching football and was a huge Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns fan, win or lose. He proudly supported the Houston Cougars, cheering on the team connected to his uncle and father-in-law.

He loved Mexico, speaking with a perfect accent and adored his vacations in Cabo San Lucas, always having a handful of dollar bills to tip every waiter and staff.

Bobby is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Hinds; his father, Larry Hinds; his uncle Dr. Norman Speer and aunt Cristina Speer; his mother-in-law Judy Schooley; his fathers-in-law Robert Schooley and Robert Farley Sr. (Rita); his son, Bobby Hinds; his granddaughter, Jasmine Hinds; and numerous family members who cared for him, including Jamie Farley (sister-in-law), Robert Farley Jr. (brother-in-law), and nephews Josh Berry, Zyon Farley, and Beau Heddin.

Bobby was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Speer; his brother, Brad Hinds; his grandfather, Erle T. Speer; and his grandmother, Marian J. Speer (Hoeppner).

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his uncle Dr. Norman Speer. Norman was such an integral part of Bobby’s life, acting as a father figure and guiding him through tough times and good times. Bobby was kind, generous, loving, and very honest with all who knew him. He was fun to be around, and we will miss his hearty laugh and joyful personality.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM on January 11, 2026, at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel.
