Carolyn Nutter Obituary
Born August 7, 1934. Passed away on February 27, 2023, at the age of 88.
Born in Great Barrington, MA and raised in Hillsdale, NY, Carolyn was predeceased by her parents Bernard and Irene (Gilbert) Klitsch, her brother, Bernard Klitsch and her former husband, Donald Nutter.
She is survived by her sister Helen Klitsch (West Hartford, CT), her children, Ann (Joseph) Nutter Pierre (Rochester, NY) and James (Kelley) Nutter (Ballston Spa, NY), grandchildren, Barrett (Jamie) Schenk (Canandaigua, NY), Liana (Adam) Schroeder (Springwater, NY) and Zachary (Samantha) Nutter (San Antonio, TX) and four great-grandchildren, Easton Schenk, Hudson Schenk, Lina Nutter and Colton Nutter.
Carolyn received her teaching degree from SUNY Oneonta and began her career as an elementary school teacher. Carolyn furthered her education and received her MSW from SUNY Albany. Carolyn was employed by the Veteran's Administration in Albany as a Social Worker for the remainder of her career. Her passion became psychiatric social work, and she was known for her commitment to and advocacy for Veterans. She enjoyed sewing and quilting as her artistic outlets. Her life was completed by her family, her close friends, and in her later years her rescued cat Gilbert.
Carolyn lived for much of her life in Castleton, NY, relocating to Saratoga Springs, NY in 2016. The family expresses their thanks to Prestwick Chase at Saratoga. Home of the Good Shepard, and The Community Hospice for their compassionate care.
Services are under the arrangements of Tunison Funeral Home 105 Lake Ave. Saratoga Springs, NY, and will be private.
Interment will be in the Hillsdale Rural Cemetery, Hillsdale, NY.
