Bobby R. Magee
1944-2025
Bethany, Mo: Bobby Russell Magee, 81,
Bethany, MO peacefully left this world on December 4, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Bobby was born on October 23, 1944, to Russell "Pete" and Bernice Grace (Cottrill) Magee. The middle child of three, he lived in Lone Star, MO with siblings Billy and Betty. Bobby attended his first two years of his education in a one room schoolhouse in Lone Star, the next 8 were spent at the Martinsville School, and he graduated with the class of 1962 from the Old School of South Harrison in
Bethany, MO.
Bobby married his high school sweetheart, Rosalea Lawrence, on August 31, 1962, at the New Hampton Christian Church. They were blessed with two children, Brenda Kay and Brian Lawrence. They lived on a farm south of New Hampton where Bob raised livestock, grew crops, and did custom field work. Bob and his brother Bill worked together to form Magee Brothers, where they raised prized Charolais cattle.
Bob and Rosalea moved to Bethany in 1996. Bob spent six years selling books across the country for Gumdrop Books. He later worked and retired from Nelson Real Estate. Bob continued to own and manage rental houses until his death.
Bob was known for his kindness and generosity. He could talk to anyone and enjoyed meeting new people. He loved to laugh and told the best stories. Most of which were about his adventures over the years. Bob loved to travel, ride his motorcycle, collect classic cars, and spend time with his family and friends. He was known for giving silver dollars and half dollars as a keepsake. He could often be found in his recliner watching "The Price Is Right", "Gunsmoke", and "Wagon Train".
Bob and Rosalea were proud of their children, attending all of their school activities, sporting events, and 4H. They cherished the opportunity to do it all over again with their grandchildren, Stevie Kay and Braxton Valentine. They took many family vacations, traveling all over the country.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Rosalea, who passed away in 2020; his parents, Pete and Bernice Magee; father and mother-in-law, Earnest and Leah Lawrence; brother, Bill Magee; and niece, Kathy Magee.
Bob will be missed by his daughter, Brenda Gabriel and son, Brian Magee both of Bethany; granddaughter, Stevie (Travis) Sterkis, Albany; grandson, Braxton Magee, Bethany; sister, Betty (Kent) Nicholls, Cameron; sister-in-law, Bonnie Magee, Bethany; six great grandchildren, Ashley (Connor) McCartney, Mcfall, Hailey Sterkis, Pattonsburg, Evan, Jordyn, Whitney, and Kaylyn Sterkis, Albany; nieces and other extended family and friends.
It's said that all we have in the end is our memories. Bobby will live on in our memories and never be forgotten.
