Bobby McDonald Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kelsey Funeral Home - Albemarle on Nov. 5, 2025.
Bobby Windell McDonald, born October 17, 1939, peacefully transitioned to paradise surrounded by his family on November 3, 2025. He was the son of Ellis and Justine Jordan McDonald. No matter what their position in life, Bobby had a unique and extraordinary ability to connect with people. He was compassionate and had a heart full of love, tenderness, humbleness, and kindness. He epitomized these qualities through his actions and through living a life of service. His belief was that if his fellowman needed help, then help him. This is what he believed, and this is how he lived.
Educated in the Stanly County Public Schools, Bobby graduated in the class of 1959 from West Badin High School. He served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Bobby was employed with Alcoa Aluminum Works, Badin for thirty plus years, and was a member of the iconic Twenty-Five Year Club. He was also employed at Stanly Memorial Hospital, Albemarle for thirty years as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Bobby was known for providing care and comfort throughout the county.
A man of faith, Bobby was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, New London, North Carolina where he was a former Trustee Board and Men's Choir member. In his leisure time, he enjoyed cheering for the Tar Heels Men's Basketball Team and the Washington Commanders NFL Team. He never met a stranger; and he possessed a clever and disarming sense of humor that endeared him to those he met. He often left others with a smile or a laugh after they went their separate ways. Bobby was a Chevy enthusiast and an avid golfer.
His parents, brothers: Eddie Hudson Jr., Thomas McDonald, and Leonard McDonald; and sisters: Dorothy Wall, Gladys Smith, Lenora McDonald, and Tonia Lee preceded him in death.
Bobby and Marie were a devoted couple, and they celebrated sixty-four years of marital bliss in April 2025.
Those left to remember and cherish loving memories are his wife, Alice Marie McDonald; sons: David McDonald, Stedman (Christina) McDonald, and Johnny (Secorri) McLendon; daughters: Anita (Anthony) Atkins, Crystal McDonald, and LaShanda (Chris) Misenheimer; grandchildren: Alicia, Alexis, Lauren, Lindsey, Anthony "AJ", Stephen, Logan (Rossy),Madison, and Brendan; great grandchildren: Aniyah, Amadian, Landon, Layla, Rhiley, Rhiyan, Lawson, Alaina, Rahmir, Miguel, Nahlani, Camila, Nathan, and Dominic; special nephews and nieces: Anthony Jones, Derrick Davis, Tamra Jenkins, Cassandra McDonald, Phelexia McDonald, and all his nieces and nephews who were special to Bobby; God daughters: Avonda Thomas and Marianne Benson; sister, Hazel M. Cody; brother, Robert Cody Jr.; brothers-in-law, who were like brothers and their wives: Calvin (Mary) Peoples, Charles (Katherine) Peoples, and Roger (Minister Argene) Peoples; and sister-in-law, Jannie M. McDonald. Bobby's life journey was blessed with many friends, neighbors, church members, and co-workers. He will forever live in the hearts of those who knew him and will be remembered for his kindness and generosity.
"It broke our hearts to lose Bobby, but he did not go alone, for part of us went with him, the day God called him home."
