Bob was a 1970 graduate of Roseboro-Salemburg High School, where he was affectionately known for his bubbly personality. Bob was very popular and got along well with most of his high school friends. He was a very intelligent young man and was admired by many for his basketball skills. He and his nephew, Ernest Ray Rich, were horseshoe champions for their high school Future Farmers of America Club at Charles E. Perry. They won on the local level and advanced to the state level in Swansboro, NC, where they brought the trophy back to their home school. We would often hear him brag about his horseshoe skills.
In the neighborhood, he was affectionately known as Wooster Cat. He will be remembered for his compassion and love for the neighborhood children. He always had a listening ear and would give wisdom and advice when needed. Bob never gave unsolicited advice. He was kind and very approachable. Bob was a sensitive man and always regarded other's feelings.
He was a member of Evergreen United Holy Church where he gave his life to the Lord at a very young age. He regularly attended Sunday School and sang in the choir in the tenor section. Under the counsel of his nephew, Pastor Gasper Rich, he openly confessed and rededicated his life to the Lord.
Bobby Nathan had a fondness for truck driving and most of his career was spent doing what he loved most. He drove various types of trucks including 18 wheelers and dump trucks until his health declined and he was unable to continue to do what he loved.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Jule and Viola Rich, his siblings, Ernestine, Christine Rich Bannerman, Jimmy, Kenneth and his wife, Priscilla Rich. Bob is survived by his three children, Tara Marie Allen of Conway, AR, Bobby Nathan Rich, Jr, of Salemburg, NC, and Todd Antonio Rich of Fayetteville, NC, his grandchildren, Traivon Lamonte' Allen, Priscilla Catherine Rich, Kay'Den Ny'sir Rich, and his bonus grandchildren - Madison Fowler, Zyon Dawson and Isaiah Munn, one great grandchild, Taiyan L. Allen, two sisters, Eloise Rich Williams, and Mary Rich Thompson (Billy), both of Salemburg, NC, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
When his health began to decline, Bob was favored by some of the most amazing caregivers: his niece, Constance Thompson Rich, and friends, T'Necia Munn,
Samantha Kerr, and Valerie Carr. These young ladies provided the utmost care and kindness to our dad, brother, and uncle, during the time of his declining health. Your love and acts of kindness will always be remembered.
The family appreciates all the kindness shown to Bob, by the staff of Bethesda Health Care Facility in Eastover, NC.
