Bobby Joe Rickett

Bobby Joe Rickett, age 88, of Dallas, Georgia, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025. He was born on March 20, 1937, to the late John and Ruth Rickett in Cedar Bluff, Alabama. Bobby lived a full and vibrant life, filled with love, laughter, and countless adventures.

Bobby met the love of his life, Roswitha Stück, while serving in the Army in Germany. Together, they shared 56 beautiful years of marriage, raising their family in the Powder Springs area.

 A man of many passions, Bobby loved spending time with his family and friends. Whether it was hunting, fishing, or woodworking, he found joy in every moment. Bobby was also a proud rider of his Harley-Davidson and enjoyed sharing tales of his years with the Atlanta Police Department, where he served for over 30 years. At the Atlanta Police Department, he was a trailblazer, serving as a sergeant over the motorcycle patrol division for over 13 years and later serving as range master until he retired. Bobby's career also included some memorable moments, such as providing security for Elvis Presley during concerts in Atlanta and aiding victims of a plane crash in the New Hope area.

Bobby was surrounded by a close-knit group of friends, including fellow retired police and those who shared his passion for motorcycles and adventure. Those friendships meant the world to him and contributed to the many wonderful stories he left behind.

Bobby was a devoted father to his daughter, Mary Ann (Nathan) Osborne, and his son, John (Brad) Rickett. He was also a loving grandfather to his grandchildren, Mitzi (Kyle) Martin, Eric (Ashley) Osborne, and Peyton (Jeremy) Kellum. He also cherished his role as a great-grandfather to Branson Osborne, Buck Martin, Atlee Osborne, Montana Martin, and Lorelei Kellum. Bobby is survived by his sister, Wilma Van Sant, who held a special place in his heart.

Along with his parents and wife, Bobby was preceded in death by his sisters Aline Dietrich and Caroline Rickett.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Sam Clark Chapel. An inurnment will be at Melrose Cemetery following the service.

Bobby Joe Rickett will be missed deeply, but his spirit and stories will live on in all who knew and loved him. Ride easy, Bobby.
