Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heritage Gardens Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematory on Jan. 26, 2026.
God took Bob home peacefully on January 21, 2026, after his earthly body was tired of battling several health issues.
Bob married his wife, Brenda, in 1978 and overnight they became a blended family of six. The two of just celebrated 48 years of marriage on January 19, 2026. Bob was a loving son and father who never shied away from giving advice, even if it wasn't what you wanted to hear. He also enjoyed dancing and loved a chance on the dance floor or just in his living room. For several years he enjoyed some Friday night music and dancing at the American Legion Post with family. He never turned his nose up to anyone's cooking or any type of food….He was definitely a "Foodie".
Bob was born December 15, 1937, in Lacon, Alabama and grew up helping on the farm early mornings before school. After graduation from Eva High School he joined the military and his first assignment was Eglin AFB. During his 20 years he experienced two tours in Germany and one in Vietnam and was lucky enough to return to Eglin AFB to retire. While in Germany he learned how to work on Volkswagens. He continued to move forward with a small Volkswagen Repair Shop named Runge's Garage located at his home. As the business grew he expanded with other businesses to include AA Auto Clinic/Wrecker Service, AA Auto Body, AA Auto Salvage and Mossy Head Auto Salvage. He used his knowledge with Volkswagen to restore, sell and repair all types of vehicles. For over 50 years as a business owner in Niceville, he built relationships with customers that became friends, as well as long time employees that are considered family. His work ethic was displayed 24/7 in all that he did. Bob was a man that believed in the value of work. Throughout his life he dedicated long hours to his career and doing his job well. Those who knew him understood that his work ethic defined him and he took satisfaction in a day earned.
