Bobby Simmons Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gordon Funeral Home - Durant on Feb. 26, 2026.
On January 26, 1957, the world gained a man who knew the value of a starched pair of Wranglers and a fair day's work. Bobby, known affectionately to many as "Bobster," was born in Dallas, Texas, to Milous Henry Simmons and Bernice Elouise Lindsey. He passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.

A graduate of Maud High School, Bobby enjoyed football, playing quarterback, wide receiver, and defensive back. He was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, sticking with them through every winning and losing season. Later in life, Bobby developed a deep commitment to the study of the Bible, which remained an important part of his life thereafter. He also took great pride in attending and graduating from Southeastern Oklahoma State University where he earned a bachelor's degree in safety and computer science 2004. He spent years after driving a truck that carried him to the far corners of the country, but he was always drawn back to the Lake Texoma area to be near his "momma."

Bobby was a man of strong convictions, few words, and simple tastes. He believed in giving a man a fair day's work for a fair day's pay. He did not need much to be happy: just some classic rock and roll, a cold Diet Dr. Pepper, and a clear night to look at the stars. He stayed true to himself, from his feathered hair to his steadfast faith.

He is survived by his brothers, Glenn and William, and other relatives and friends who were like family. Bobby lived life on his own terms, finding contentment in simplicity, faith, and the comfort of home. Though his chair is now empty, it is the ordinary days he valued most that now hold the strongest reminders of him.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
