OBITUARY
Bobby Joe Simpson Sr., of LaGrange, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at the age of 85. He was born on July 22, 1939, in Greensburg, Kentucky, to the late John and Helen Parrott Simpson.
Bobby was a man of deep passion and dedication, especially to his children and grandchildren. He took pride in simple joys-working in the yard and washing his car and going to the horse track. However, his greatest devotion was to the game of basketball and the countless young lives he impacted over his remarkable 52-year career as a coach. His commitment to the sport and to his community was honored with his induction into the 8th Region Hall of Fame, and the Green County Kentucky Sports Hall Of Fame where he attended high school.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, James Corey Simpson.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Kelli Roy (Gene), John Douglas Simpson (Angie), and Bobby Joe Simpson Jr. (Kim); daughter-in-law, Alyson Cooper Simpson; his grandchildren: Olivia Simpson, Eron Roy, Travis Roy, Chris Vest, Jacob Simpson, Jared Simpson, Joerdan Simpson, Caleb Simpson, Luke Simpson, and Gracie Simpson; seven great-grandchildren; his sister: Linda Houk of Greensburg; and many extended family members and friends who were touched by his generous heart.
Bobby's legacy of kindness and mentorship will live on in all who knew him.
