CARTERVILLE - Bobby Dean Smith, 75, of The Villages, Florida, formerly of Carterville, passed away Dec. 16, 2025, at Tampa General Hospital in Tampa.
Bobby was born June 1, 1950, in Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Irene Smith; his brothers, Danny Smith and Don Smith; his life partner, Karen Parrish; and Karen's children, Zachary Parrish and Elise Elders.
He is survived by his son, Brian Smith; daughter-in-law, Lori Smith; and his grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Corbin) Preston, Leioni Bickett, Hatcher Bickett and Myner Smith.
Bob spent his working career in the Carbondale area, beginning in automobile sales, where he eventually owned his own business. He later transitioned into the insurance and investment field, where he worked until retirement.
He shared a lifelong love for the game of golf and truly cherished the friendships and bonds he formed with friends over the years. Bob was known for his kindness and generosity, always looking for ways to help friends and neighbors in need. He was someone you could count on during difficult times.
Bob loved to tell a good story and had a gift for leaving people with a laugh and a smile. Above all, he loved his family dearly and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
In accordance with his wishes, Bobby will be cremated. No funeral services will be held at this time. A celebration of life may be planned at a later date.
