Rev. Dr. Bobby “Bob” Austin Taylor, 92, of Folkston, GA passed away Monday, December 23, 2024 in Jacksonville, FL. He was born August 20, 1932 in Cool Springs, NC to the late Andrew Roger Taylor, Sr. and Thelma Loretta Williams Taylor. He proudly served his country in the US Navy. During his 70 years in ministry, he pastored churches from North Carolina to Florida, including Mountain Home Baptist Church in Edneyville, NC, Pleasant Grove Baptist in Mt City TN, First Baptist Church in De Leon Springs FL, White House Baptist in Jacksonville FL, Englewood Baptist in Jacksonville FL, Mayo Baptist in Mayo FL, Lemon Heights Baptist Church in Palatka FL, Orrum Baptist Church in Lumberton NC, North Hilliard Baptist Church in Hilliard, FL. He also had the honor of building 2 new churches during his ministry Kings Grove Baptist Church in Hendersonville NC and Central Baptist Church in Mt City TN. In his spare time, he loved to fish, do yard work, pick up pecans, watch racing and Gunsmoke but always made it a priority to find time to study his Bible daily.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years: Mary Feagan Taylor; 2-sons and daughters-in-law: Kenny & Shirley Taylor and John & Kim Taylor; a sister: Emily Galloway; 7-grandchildren: Matt (Hollie) Taylor, Adam (Abbi) Taylor, Justin (Kristen) Taylor, Summer Trouille, Ashley (Weston) Gray, Shane Britt and Shelly Sprague; 13-great grandchildren: Kate Taylor, Hamp Taylor, Kennedy Taylor, Briggs Taylor, Jace Taylor, Allyson Bobchak, Onyx Gray, Opal Gray, Stone Gray, Brittany (Jake) Smith, Hardy-Jo Crews, Sara (Jeremy) Edwards, Ciara (Cody) Dyal; and 8 Great Great Grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Roger Taylor; 2- sisters: Rita Louise Kersey and Hazel Maxwell and a brother: Andrew Taylor, Jr..
Funeral services will be held Friday December 27th viewing at 12PM service to follow at 1PM at the First Baptist Church of Boulogne with Pastor Paul Lucas and Pastor Doyle Harper officiating. Burial will follow in Sardis Cemetery.
