Bobby Don Van Dyke, a devoted pastor, loving, and cherished father was born on September 22, 1942, in Belton, Texas. He left this world on October 22, 2024, in Gatesville, Texas, after a long battle with illness, yet he remained steadfast and resilient throughout his life.

For many years, Bobby dedicated his life to guiding others in faith as a pastor at Candlestick Baptist Church in Spring, and at Eagle Spring Baptist Church in McGregor. His devotion to his congregation was deeply rooted in his love for God and his passion for sharing His word. Those who had the privilege of attending his sermons will fondly remember the warmth and wisdom he radiated from the pulpit. Watching him minister was a sight to behold, as he had the unique ability to connect with his parishioners in an authentic and personal way, creating an atmosphere of love and compassion within his community.

Bobby’s personality was characterized by a stubborn determination that served him well in various aspects of life. He was never one to let health issues deter him from his passions, often found working diligently on his land and caring for his beloved horses. His love for raising horses not only reflected his deep connection with nature but also showcased his tenacity and dedication to what he loved.

Above all, Bobby was a proud family man. He found immense joy in raising his four sons—Jeffrey Mart Van Dyke of Spring Branch, Texas; Joe Allan Van Dyke of Blanco; Jeremy Don Van Dyke of Doss, and Joshua Warren Van Dyke of Gatesville. His pride in his sons was evident to all who knew him, as he always spoke of them with admiration and love. His wife, Carolyn Ruth (Warren) Van Dyke, was a loving partner by his side, sharing countless laughs and memories as they built a life together. Bobby is also survived by his brother, Richard Mart Van Dyke, and his sisters, Gloria Sue Hall, Debra Elaine Bingham, and Joyce Ann Baker. He was a doting grandfather to eight grandchildren and cherished his twelve great-grandchildren, who were a source of immense joy and fulfillment in his life.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Anderson Mart Van Dyke and Frances ElMyra (Safley) Van Dyke, and his beloved daughter-in-law, Carol Ann Van Dyke. His legacy of love and dedication will continue through his family and those whose lives he touched during his time as a pastor and a friend.

A visitation in honor of Bobby will be held on November 2, 2024, starting at noon, at Eagle Springs Baptist Church in McGregor, Texas. This will be followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM, allowing loved ones to come together in remembrance and reflection. He will be laid to rest at Cedar Valley Cemetery in Salado, Texas, with a burial taking place at 3:00 PM.

As we gather to celebrate the life of Bobby Don Van Dyke, let us remember his unwavering faith, the laughter he shared with his family, and his commitment to serving others. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those he loved, continuing to inspire and uplift us all.
