Bonnie Anderson Obituary

Bonnie Lee Anderson, 73, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at her home in Blackfoot, Idaho, from complications from sarcoidosis.

Bonnie was born September 3, 1952 in Logan, Utah, the daughter of Rowena May Burdick and Edward Charles Cook.

Bonnie grew up on a ranch in Pegram, Idaho. At the young age of four she found her first love of horses, riding her Shetland pony. At the age of 12, the family moved to Blackfoot for a short time, then moved to the Groveland area where she finished school, graduating from Blackfoot High School with the class of 1970.

On April 27, 1990, Bonnie and Dallas Anderson were married in Blackfoot.

Bonnie earned her radiology technician certificate from EITC. She began her nearly 30-year career at the INL as a rad tech and working her way to the Lead of the VPP safety team. She received top national awards including the Freedom Award with CWI Safety Team and the Employer Support Guard and Reserve (ESGR). She had many accomplishments during her career that made a lasting impact on safety protocols and awareness.

She was a 4H leader with a passion for equestrian art, breaking, showing and influencing young riders. She was also a member of the Elks Lodge and was actively involved with their activities. She was very talented as a seamstress, as well as with ceramics and painting and was always making thoughtful gifts for others; even when her hands struggled to work.

Bonnie loved riding and anything to do with horses. She was very involved in following her children and grandchildren in all of their sports and activities.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her mother, Rowena Cook, father, Edward (Ted) Cook, father-in-law, Bish Anderson and mother-in-law, Jan Anderson. She is survived by her husband, Dallas Anderson of Blackfoot; children, Rob Thomas of Lehi, UT, Roger (Tia) Thomas of Blackfoot, Justin (Michele) Thomas of Idaho Falls, Jeremy (Genevieve) Thomas of Frederick MD, Racheal (Paul) Peace of Blackfoot and J.R. (Summer) Thomas of Pocatello; siblings LouAnn (Neil) Gilchrist of Kirksville MO, Dwight (Neil Schneider) Cook of Long Beach CA and Laurie (Dale) Browning of Wasilla AK; 34 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 3 on the way.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2025 at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot. The family will meet with friends from 4-6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2025 and again for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Groveland Cemetery.

Special thank you to Enhabit Home Health and Hospice. The family suggest in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Primary Children's Hospital in their spina bifida department.

She was a great promoter of safety at the INL. I was the union safety representative before I retired in 2006. I worked very close with her.
An outstanding lady!
