Bonnie (Cairns) Hawkins

Bonnie (Cairns) Hawkins, of Malden, died at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital on Nov. 25, 2015 at the age of 70. Bonnie was born & raised in Cambridge and a graduate of Cambridge Latin High School. She resided in Burlington for several years, East Boston for 10 years and the past 30 years in Malden. Bonnie worked as an Administrative Assistant for American Airlines for 42 years before her retirement at the age of 63. She was a member of the American Airlines Northeast Vanguards and enjoyed traveling on cruises to the Mediterranean, Alaska and Europe. Bonnie enjoyed ballroom dancing with her husband and loved all animals, especially her cats. Bonnie was the beloved wife of Robert Hawkins for 37 years. Caring sister in law of Elizabeth Hawkins of Lexington and the late Mary Ellen Vokey & her husband David of Chelmsford. Devoted aunt of Kelly Vokey & her husband Leo Carr and Tracy Vokey-Brophy & her husband Mark, all of NH. Great aunt of Hannah & Emma Carr, both of NH. Also survived by family & many friends. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Saturday, Dec. 5th at 11AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours prior to the service from 9-11AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave., Salem, MA 01970.
