Bonnie Allen Jones, age 85, passed away on January 7, 2026, in Marietta, Georgia. She was born on April 29, 1940, in
Daytona Beach, Florida, to the late Myron Lewis Allen and Violet Hogg.
Bonnie graduated from high school in Greenville, South Carolina, before beginning her adult life in Pierson, Florida, where she spent virtually all of her adult years and became deeply rooted in the community she loved. In 2023, she relocated to
Acworth, Georgia, to be closer to some of her family members living there.
An entrepreneur throughout her professional career, Bonnie was a dedicated and successful business owner. She owned and operated Le Bon Greens, a cut foliage fernery operation in Pierson, Florida. Prior to that, she and her former husband, T. Larry Jones, owned and operated La Bon Greens in Pierson for many years. Altogether, she was an active member of the fern industry and Florida Fern Growers Association for over 40 years.
Bonnie was actively involved in the City of Pierson and Volusia County planning and zoning boards and served multiple terms on the Pierson City Council. Whether advocating for the fern industry, working to secure funding for new park equipment, raising supplies for hurricane victims, or sending care packages to troops overseas, Bonnie was always engaged in her community. She continually worked to support and improve infrastructure in Pierson and the surrounding areas. A woman of faith, Bonnie was Lutheran and a devoted member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church.
Bonnie's greatest passion was her family and her community. As her children were growing up in the community, she was constantly found driving fundraisers, leading PTA initiatives, raising money for class projects, and more. In her later year, she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren whenever possible. She delighted in taking them on memorable adventures, including cross-country trips to Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, and the Alamo, as well as multiple trips to Sugar Mountain, North Carolina, where they could play in the snow.
She was a devoted fan of country music and attended FanFare in Nashville numerous times, where she enjoyed meeting many of country music's greatest stars during the 1980s and 1990s. Bonnie also loved country and western movies, Elvis, a good game of Yahtzee, and above all else Pepsi Cola, a favorite that those who knew her will always remember.
Bonnie is survived by her children, Steven Larry Jones, Martin Allen Jones, and Joni Sue Jones. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Brandon North, Megan Odom, Daniel Jones, Mackenzie Davis, and Jonathan Jones; as well as 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Lou Pugh, and her aunt and uncle, Mary and Herbert Osmer.
There will be a gathering of friends from 1-2pm with a funeral service at 2pm, both on Saturday January 17th at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Pierson. Interment will follow at Pierson Methodist Cemetery.
