Bonnie Faye Newton

Bonnie Faye Mitchell Newton, age 80, of Northport, AL, passed away on September 25, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Crestline Baptist Church 13949 Hwy 69 S Tuscaloosa, AL 35405. A visitation will be held hour prior to the service.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Newton; daughter, Natasha Stinnett; parents, Emma Lois Mitchell and James Earl Mitchell; and brother, Tubby Mitchell.

She is survived by her son, Robert Christopher Newton (LeeAnn); grandson, Ansel Stinnett; granddaughter, Erica Walsh; sister, Florence Martin; brothers, Tony Mitchell (Carolyn) and Tim Mitchell.

Bonnie was born on December 18, 1944 in Tuscaloosa County and lived her entire life in Tuscaloosa. She graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1963 and married the love of her life, Robert, in 1964. She had her son Chris in 1967 and her daughter Tasha in 1971. Bonnie worked for Partlow and took a break to raise her family. She later worked for the State Employment Office for several years. Bonnie changed positions to work at the Tuscaloosa County Circuit Clerks Office.

Once she retired, Bonnie enjoyed family gatherings, listening to gospel music, and watching sports on TV. Her grandson, Ansel, was the apple of her eye and she was so proud of him. She cherished her extended family and friends. Her nieces and nephews were close to her as well. The Freeman/Mitchell Easter Egg Hunt was her favorite event to attend. Bonnie had a soft spot for children and kept up with them through Facebook. She always asked those she liked to call her "Grandmaw Bonnie."

The family would like to thank the staff at DCH Regional Medical Center, Centerwell Home Health, and Gentiva Hospice.
